conectoresERP User guide

Get started

In a few minutes: sign in with your invitation, connect your company's Odoo and add your own Odoo user. Nothing is installed on your Odoo server.

Requirements

OdooOdoo 16, 17, 18 or 19, Community or Enterprise, on Odoo Online, Odoo.sh or your own server, reachable from the internet over https://.
Access to Conectores ERPAn invitation (private beta). Ask for one on the waitlist.
Odoo userAn internal user (not a portal user) with an API key. Each person uses their own.

1. Create the space

  1. Open the invitation email and follow the link to verify your email and choose a password. If the sign-in screen shows Iniciar sesión con Google (Sign in with Google), you can also sign in with the Google account of that same email.
  2. Go to app.conectoreserp.es.
  3. Create your company's space: give it a name and an identifier (lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens only; it appears in addresses, for example in the MCP Connect one). If you were invited to a space that already exists, skip this step.

Whoever creates the space is its owner. Admins connect Odoo, decide the Copilot's permissions and invite more people in Ajustes → Miembros (Settings → Members); members use the Copilot and MCP Connect with their own Odoo user.

2. Connect the space's Odoo

A space admin does this once, in Ajustes → Conexión de Odoo del espacio (Settings → Space's Odoo connection). You need four details:

DetailWhat it isExample
Your Odoo's addressThe one you see in the browser when you open Odoo, with nothing after the domain. It must start with https://; if you paste …/odoo/… or …/web#…, the app removes it for you.https://mycompany.odoo.com
DatabaseOdoo Online: almost always the subdomain. Odoo.sh: the database of the production branch (not of a staging branch). Your own server: you see it at /web/database/selector, or ask whoever runs the server.mycompany
UserThe email (login) that user signs in to Odoo with.ana@mycompany.com
API keyAn API key of that user (see below). It's stored encrypted and never shown again.—

Click Verificar y guardar (Verify and save). The app checks the connection to your Odoo right then (it can take up to a minute) and saves nothing if it fails.

Create the API key in Odoo

  1. Sign in to Odoo with the user you're going to connect.
  2. Click your avatar (top right) → My Preferences (or My Profile) → Account Security tab.
  3. Under API Keys, click New API Key and enter your password.
  4. Give it a name, for example "Conectores ERP". In Odoo 19 you also choose its duration: when it expires, create another one and save it in the app.
  5. Copy it before you close the dialog: Odoo doesn't show it again.

Important: If you don't see the Account Security tab, ask whoever administers your Odoo to give you access. Odoo API keys give the same access as the user's password: don't share them.

Odoo versions and how they connect

OdooHow it connects
19Odoo's JSON-2 API, with the API key. It's tried first.
16, 17 and 18XML-RPC, with the same API key instead of the password. It's tried if JSON-2 isn't available.

The app shows which one your connection uses (JSON-2 or XML-RPC) in Ajustes. In both cases, the user's Odoo permissions apply.

3. Connect your own Odoo user

The Copilot and MCP Connect work with each person's Odoo user: they only see and do what Odoo allows that user, and Odoo records that the change was made by that person.

  1. Open Ajustes → Tu usuario de Odoo (Settings → Your Odoo user), or open the Copilot: it asks you the first time.
  2. The address and the database are already filled in with the space's. Enter your Odoo email and paste your API key.
  3. Click to verify and save.

Recommended Odoo permissions

Conectores ERP doesn't change Odoo's permissions: it respects them. In Odoo, give each person the groups for what they're going to ask the Copilot. The names are Odoo 19's (with the technical name in parentheses); in other versions they can differ slightly.

ForThe user's Odoo groupMore information
Querying dataThe read permissions of each app (what that person already sees in Odoo).Query data
Accounting reports, vendor bills, posting invoices, registering payments and sending invoicesAccounting: Invoicing (account.group_account_invoice) or higher.Post invoices
Importing bank statementsAccounting Basic (account.group_account_basic) or the accountant group, "Show Full Accounting Features" (account.group_account_user). With Invoicing, you can only read them.Import statements
Creating contactsContacts: Contact Creation (base.group_partner_manager).Create and update

Note: For MCP Connect, read permissions are enough: it's read-only. If you connect a dedicated user for the space, give it access only to what you want to query.

Next steps

  1. An admin reviews the Copilot's permissions: what it can do without asking, what needs approval and what it doesn't do.
  2. Open the Copilot and ask your first question, for example:
    • Which customer invoices are overdue?
    • Sales this month by salesperson
  3. If you use Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or VS Code, connect your assistant with MCP Connect.

Troubleshooting

Quoted text is exactly what the app shows, in Spanish, followed by what it means. When the Copilot can't propose something, it explains why in the chat, in its own words.
